GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!

We want you, we want you, we want you as a new recruit...

Unlucky for some? Maybe, but one famous singer will be celebrating his good fortune on Friday the 13th, as Randy Jones, perhaps more commonly known as The Cowboy from the Village People, celebrates his 61st birthday. That news is on top of the fiesta he´s been enjoying after marrying his partner of three decades, Will Gregga.

But The Cowboy is probably not the only one in the village in party spirits, as Victor Willis, aka The Cop, who happened to write most of their hits, including the global phenomenon that is YMCA, which is featured in the latest fun packed film, Despicable Me 2, as well as Go West and In The Navy, will be able to enjoy the results of a 1978 copyright law which gives “termination rights” after a period of 35 years, meaning that the creator of the works of art will once again hold the rights to those iconic songs.

Hopefully that party celebration will be more civilised than some from the past with Willis having a string of troubles, rehab and recovery, and even an appearance on America´s Most Wanted on an assault charge. Willis, incidentally, is the first prominent artist to claim the rights under the legislation, but no doubt not the last, as many a 70´s performer zips up their boots and goes back to their roots… YEAH! Although that was 1981.
