CHAMPIONS DAYA WIN WELL AT ORIEL

ORIEL 1 v. DAYA NUEVA 7
With Callosa this morning ending any hope that Cox had of pipping Daya for the title, meant Daya Nueva Infantils G10s arrived at Oriel this evening already crowned champions.

As expected it was all Daya from the off. The visitors won a corner on 2 minutes and Alberto headed home the opening goal. Marcos doubled the score on 5 minutes to put the visitors well in control. With the title already won you could have forgiven Daya if they had taken their foot off the gas but this wasn’t the case, as on 18 minutes Manual scored the 3rd, the same player made it 4 – 0 just 2 minutes later following yet another good Daya move.

To their credit the home side kept battling away but were just no match for the champions. The Oriel goalkeeper was having a good game and was the reason the scoreline was still respectable. At this stage the home side were having their best spell of the game but carried no real threat up front.

There were no further goals before the break. The second half was just minutes old and Daya should have scored twice more from two excellent chances. On 40 minutes Alberto rose well to score Daya’s 5th with a good header.

Jesus added the 6th a minute later and for the second week running 10 or more goals looked achievable. Oriel’s keeper was having an inspired game and was the sole reason the scoreline remained in single figures.

Oriel won their first corner on 47 minutes from which they scored a good headed goal to make the score more respectable at 6 – 1. Francisco renewed Daya’s hopes of double figures following his good run and shot for the 7th goal on 60 minutes.

Right to the final whistle the home side’s goalkeeper was performing heroics and kept the visitors’ scoreline to just the 7 goals. This wasn’t vintage Daya this evening but, hey, they had just won the League Title. The massive crowd of support Daya brought with them were very very vocal with their chanting of “Campiones Campiones” and, of course the obligatory numerous fire crackers.

Man of the Match was undoubtedly the homeside’s goalkeeper, just fantastic. On returning to Daya the celebrations began and went on until the early hours !
