CLUB RUGBY LA VILA U.E. SANTABOIANA V LA VILA R.C.

Santboi-La Vila (Guillem Carrión)

U.E Santboiana reaffirmed their position in the league with a convincing home victory over La Vila. The Alicantinos were without several key players including Javier “Pepín” Sanz, Agustín “Yustin” Gómez and Edu Sorribes, and the home side took full advantage of the lack of experience in the opposition line up with lethal breaks and attacking play controlled by the three quarters.

Despite fielding a youthful team, the “Joneses” showed promise in the first forty minutes, with two particularly good moves ending with tries for Chivers and Quirante.

Santboiana shored up their defence in the second half, preventing La Vila scoring again and finishing the game with a 65-14 advantage.

La Vila were unable to take advantage of Atlético Madrid’s victory over Hernani, who sit one place above them in the penultimate position in the table. However, the Alicante team has an opportunity to close the gap when they take on their closest rivals on Sunday 24 March at theVillajoyosa Rugby Stadium.
